Mental preparation is another overlooked area. This is especially true if one views “the psychological” in a negative way.

Mental, “of the mind,” includes reason and judgment, both required attributes to help recognize the unfolding patterns of an emergency so that one can implement the necessary procedures to counter them.

There are also attitudes towards, and emotional responses to, an emergency that need to be considered, because if ignored, chances of survival are severely reduced.
